Cruisin' for Coastal Kids

(PAST EVENT) September 2020 + August 2021

Cruisin' for Coastal Kids Home Care--A private parade for medically fragile children.

Each year, it is difficult for our sickest children to attend our events because of their health conditions. So in 2020, we brought the event TO THEM. In the midst of a global pandemic, unhealthy air from historically bad wildfires and widespread economic uncertainty, Coastal Kids Home Care and a community of supporters came together to put on a Cruisin' for Coastal Kids Home Care parade. Led by police vehicles, our parades of classic cars, fire engines, antiques, and trucks all wearing masks that said, “Cruisin’ for Coastal Kids,” drove by the homes of some of the most vulnerable kids in Salinas and the Bay Area.

Because the event was such a huge hit with both supporters and families, we decided to bring the event back to Santa Clara County and a new location--Santa Cruz in 2021! Again the event was a huge hit for our families. “They’re always isolated. They always have to stay at home a lot, but with COVID, they’re scared now and they’re not coming out for anything. We’re just trying to bring a little joy,” said Coastal Kids Executive Director, Margy Mayfield. Both events were incredibly special days and we are so thankful to everyone who made it happen!
